Many of us will have heard a ringing in our ears from time to time, such as after a night out at dance clubs or after a music concert. Some people may even experience it after a long haul flight.
Fortunately, these episodes of phantom ringing, humming and buzzing tend to fade after a while, but for those who don’t find relief with time, it can indicate tinnitus.
There is no one cause for tinnitus, and it can affect different people in different ways – fluctuating in intensity throughout the day, occurring in one or both ears. It can also be a source of distraction and distress, sometimes impacting our sleep patterns.
